“ Daniele the owners son welcomed us to what seemed to be the only ristorante open at 5pm in all of Italy. We felt at home and his suggestions were on point. We started with Antipasto caldo in crosta which I can only describe as a seafood shepherds pie . Absolutely delicious. The cacho e pepe the best we tasted in Italy. The seafood ravioli, mamá mía sooo good. I’m going to stop writing enjoy the pictures. ”
“ We came across Il Ghiottone because of a flight cancellation and a last-minute trip to Fiumicino to see the beach, which we hadn’t managed to visit earlier in our vacation. Since I have a shellfish allergy, I was prepared to stick with cacio e pepe, but Ilaria was more than helpful in guiding us through the menu and recommended orata con patate al forno. Thanks to her, I was able to dine like a local and still enjoy the flavors of the sea safely. I’m so glad I took her advice. The fish was perfectly flaky and buttery, and the potatoes alongside were just as delicious. Ilaria even showed us the beauty of the whole fish before taking it back to the kitchen. That’s when we learned this was a family-owned restaurant, when she said her mom would personally fillet it for us, which made the experience feel even more special and personal. Of course, I couldn’t skip the cacio e pepe as my final pasta in Italy. We ordered it too, and it did not disappoint. I’m so grateful we discovered this restaurant for our last night. It was an honor to be welcomed and served by such a gracious, beautiful family. ”

“ We chose to spend our last night in Italy in this area to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. As we walked along checking out the restaurants, we were greeted warmly by the hostess so we decided to look at the menu. It looked good so we decided to stay. We had the seafood risotto, an order of mixed vegetables and the fried fish. A glass of wine and a cold beer were good with it. Everything was excellent, cooked to perfection. We have been in Italy for over 3 weeks, from Tuscany to Positano, and this was the best meal we have had our entire trip. But as good as the food was, the best part of our visit was our conversation with the owner and his wife. He is the chef and she is the hostess. They struggled with understanding our southern American English, but we managed to have a wonderful conversation. Her sister was there visiting from Montreal, and their son was helping out. Both of them helped with the conversation at times. They went out of their way to make us welcome. If you are in the area, we highly recommend you enjoy your meal here! ”
